Mr Wadley is one of the most senior and experienced neurosurgeons in the United Kingdom, with nearly 25 years experience as a consultant neurosurgeon. He has performed many thousands of brain and spine surgical procedures in his career.
Private referrals are welcomed from a wide geographical area, and he is recognised by all the major insurance companies, and he is also very happy to see patients who wish to self-pay for their care, an increasingly common situation.

Mr Wadley has affiliations to the following learned societies and organisations:
His technical surgical skill is renowned and he has trained a large number of young neurosurgeons from around the world, who have gone on to become consultant neurosurgeons themselves. He has an international level of experience in some specialist procedures.
Currently he performs around 250 neurosurgical spinal procedures per year, both NHS and private, with the highest level of good outcomes and results and very low incidence of complications.
He is a founder member of the neurosurgical Springfield Spine Unit at Springfield Hospital, where his private practice, after years of working in Harley Street, is now based, specialising in spinal surgery both routine and complex, peripheral nerve surgery, and hindbrain anomalies (Chiari Malformations).
A recent NHS England/ GIRFT review (2025) of the Springfield Spinal Unit rated it outstanding in all categories.
He truly brings major teaching hospital and Harley Street experience and expertise to Springfield Hospital and patients throughout Essex, Hertfordshire and beyond.
Mr Wadley’s NHS appointment is as the senior Consultant Neurosurgeon in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Bart’s Regional Neurosciences Unit, at the world famous St. Bartholomew’s Hospital, the oldest hospital in Great Britain (AD 1123) and The Royal London Hospital, both part of the famous Bart’s Health NHS Trust.
He is also the Honorary Consultant Neurosurgeon at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, Essex, where for the last 20 years he has run a very busy Outreach Clinic, providing specialist brain and spine expertise to Essex from the Bart’s Regional Neurosciences Unit.
Mr Wadley is an active member of both the East Anglian Spinal Network and the East London and Essex Spinal Network, ensuring the highest levels of colleague interaction, training and education, and clinical governance.
Further focusing upon the highest standards and excellence in clinical governance, all patients undergoing neurosurgical spinal procedures by Mr Wadley at Springfield Hospital have their data entered to the national British Spine Registry (BSR).
Mr Wadley has an excellent reputation for engagement and empathy, and patients will find that they will receive a very detailed and well-explained opinion, and recommendations for further treatment and management, as appropriate, based upon his vast experience as a senior neurosurgeon.
